Living in South Florida means waking up to golden sunrises, hosting around breezy lanais, and enjoying effortless coastal living. But along with year-round sunshine comes intense UV exposure, glare, and midsummer heat that can send utility bills soaring and fade fine hardwood, tile, and rugs.
At Capitol Carpet & Tile and Window Fashions®, we are proud to be Florida’s Best Source for Flooring & Design. Window treatments do more than frame a view; they work in tandem with your flooring to balance light, protect your interior investments, and keep your home cool and comfortable.
Because South Florida homes vary from golf-club estates to coastal cottages and equestrian ranches, the ideal window treatment depends on your lifestyle and surroundings. We’ll go over your options and when you’re ready, we encourage you to stop by your local Capitol Carpet & Tile and Window Fashions® to check out our window treatment selection.

Which Types of Interior Shades are Right for You?
Boca Raton: Sleek Solar & Dual Roller Shades for Coastal Modern Living
Boca Raton homes are renowned for expansive floor-to-ceiling glass, bright open-concept living, and luxury intracoastal or golf-course views. The primary challenge is cutting intense afternoon heat and glare without losing sight of the water or greens.
Top Recommendation:Solar Roller Shades
Why They Excel in Boca: High-performance solar screens act as sunglasses for your windows, filtering out up to 99% of harmful UV rays while preserving daytime visibility. Banded shades alternate sheer and solid fabric bands, offering a crisp, geometric look that complements modern marble-look porcelain tile and minimalist interiors.
Design Specialist Tip: Pair your solar shades with smart motorization. Set schedules to lower west-facing shades during peak afternoon heat and raise them at sunset for seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining.
Palm Beach Gardens: Energy-Efficient Cellular (Honeycomb) Shades for Golf Community Living
From PGA National to Mirasol and Old Palm, residences in Palm Beach Gardens often feature sweeping glass exposures facing manicured fairways and sun-drenched pool decks. Managing solar heat gain is essential to keeping expansive interiors cool and energy costs manageable.
Top Recommendation:Cellular (Honeycomb) Shades
Why They Excel in Palm Beach Gardens: Cellular shades feature an innovative cell-within-a-cell construction that traps pocket air at the glass line. This delivers unmatched thermal insulation against the tropical sun while providing gentle, diffused ambient light that complements soft neutral flooring and plush carpets.
Design Specialist Tip: Opt for a top-down/bottom-up configuration. This allows you to lower the top to let in natural sky light while keeping the bottom covered for privacy from the fairway.
Delray Beach: Organic Woven Wood & Natural Roman Shades for Coastal Chic Vibe
Delray Beach embodies a relaxed, design-forward coastal character from historic downtown bungalows to Pineapple Grove townhomes and beachfront retreats. Homes here lean into tactile materials, breezy linens, and organic styling.
Top Recommendation:Woven Wood Grassweave & Tailored Roman Shades
Why They Excel in Delray: Crafted from sustainable bamboo, grasses, reeds, and soft textured fabrics, woven wood shades bring warm, organic dimension into the room. They pair naturally with sun-bleached wood-look flooring, light oak engineered hardwood, and breezy linen furnishings.
Design Specialist Tip: Add an attached or independent privacy/blackout liner. You keep the rich, handwoven aesthetic facing your room while blocking midday heat and moisture.
Wellington: Elegant Roman Shades & Sheer Shadings for Spacious Equestrian Estates
Wellington’s architecture, celebrated for sprawling equestrian properties, Palm Beach Polo estates, and refined family compounds, calls for window treatments that offer grandeur, softness, and acoustic warmth across large footprints.
Top Recommendation:Fabric Roman Shades & Sheer Window Shadings (Silhouette® & Pirouette® style)
Why They Excel in Wellington: High ceilings and expansive rooms benefit from fabric shades that soften acoustics and frame dramatic architectural trim. Sheer shadings feature fabric vanes suspended between two sheer facings, diffusing bright glare into a soft, luxurious glow while safeguarding fine hardwood and custom area rugs.
Design Specialist Tip: In grand bedrooms and home offices, pair tailored roman shades with coordinating custom side panels or valances to complete the architectural framing.
Boynton Beach: Versatile Motorized & Moisture-Resistant Roller Shades for Active Living
Homes in Boynton Beach, from waterfront enclaves near the inlet to vibrant active-adult and family communities along Jog Road, require durable, low-maintenance window coverings that can withstand humidity and frequent patio traffic.
Top Recommendation:Moisture-Resistant Roller Shades & Custom Sheer Verticals
Why They Excel in Boynton Beach: High-performance, wipe-clean fabrics resist moisture and coastal humidity around patio sliders, kitchens, and breakfast nooks. For large sliding glass doors leading out to the lanai, sheer vertical shadings or panel track systems glide effortlessly, preserving ease of entry while softening direct sunlight.
Design Specialist Tip: Motorized roller shades can be integrated into everyday smart-home platforms, allowing you to control patio coverings with a tap or voice command.
Pairing Custom Window Fashions with Quality Flooring
The secret to a polished South Florida home is coordinating your hard surfaces, textiles, and window coverings under the same design vision:
Protect Hard Surfaces: Unfiltered UV rays can fade natural hardwood, discolor rugs, and heat up tile floors. Installing the right interior shades preserves the integrity and lifespan of your flooring.
Balanced Acoustic Comfort: Pairing hard surfaces like large-format porcelain tile or waterproof luxury vinyl with soft fabric window shadings dampens echoes in open-concept floor plans.
Harmonious Color Palettes: Whether your aesthetic is crisp coastal white, rich driftwood, or Mediterranean warmth, coordinating your shade fabrics with your flooring samples ensures a cohesive palette from floor to ceiling.
